Xiaofan Wang's design intends to deconstruct the barrier between the two binary images of Chinese women, and instead aims to represent the real plight of the professional woman. By exploring this contradictory dichotomy, Xiaofan critiques the contrast between traditional and contemporary stereotypes of Chinese professional women. Through the studded accessories on the collar, the design work represents the negative impacts of this stereotyping, and the ramifications of continuing to impose traditional expectations on Chinese professional women in contemporary society.
