Chameleon
“We are like Chameleons, we take our hue and the colour of our moral character, from those who are around us” - John Locke Inspired by the properties of the chameleon, the 'Chameleon Project' translated chameleon characteristics into dynamic motifs and patterns. Panida is particularly interested in the chameleon's ability to transform, reinvent themselves and their unpredictability, which each reflect their emotional state and response to surroundings. The project incorporates both hand and smart textiles for the homewares industry, particularly utilising screen printing and thermochromic inks, which culminated in a series of fabrics featuring a curtain. Panida engaged with the concept of the chameleon, as the textile items alter depending on the environment/season they are exposed to, and the curtain senses sunlight and heat. Through this homeware project, Panida aimed to transport nature into the home, exploring the notion that most things in nature are temporary, but eventually return to their foundations.
