Graduate Exhibition

Fringes of Sound is an exploration of the relationship between materiality and graphic art which uses experimental music as its primary subject matter. The project examines how an ongoing engagement with materials can compliment the graphic content as well as enhance the viewers experience. The project uses personal discussions had with three independent musicians to inform its graphic and material choices. Through extensive prototyping the project aims to highlight the reflective qualities materials possess opposed to their technical functionality. The final outcomes are a series of installations and zines that highlight both the creative process of each musician, as well as the relationship that is shared between materiality and graphic art.
