Starlight Urns: Prototyping and Sketches
The starlight urn acts as a replacement for the connection between the bereaved and the physical body of the deceased. The final design of the urn is split into three sections. The top section is intended to hold the ashes (or part of the ashes), the middle for the individual's name and date of birth and death, and the LED motion sensor light at the bottom. In accordance with the overall aim of this project to present a sustainable solution, Michelle has used the materials of wood and glass in these urns. Individuals are able to take this urn with them to the reflective spaces and then bring it back when finished in order to create a tangible and sensory experience with the object and their loved ones when visiting.
