Graduate Exhibition

The vertical cemetery is split into three main sections in order to adhere to the general community, and is not specific to any religion. The underground and separate section provides room for thousands of hanging urns that take up a total of 30 x 30 cm of space in each level. Public and private sectors and rooms are on both the ground and second level for quiet and contemplative grief, reflection or prayer. Function rooms for burials and gatherings are also included in order to continue adhering to the key reasoning behind many traditional cemeteries. A rooftop garden and biophilic architectural methods are also incorporated throughout the design in order to heal and evoke emotion between the individual and the deceased through the use of space.
