Graduate Exhibition

The ‘Social Fabric’ brief involved designing items that could be produced in collaboration with a community group. Eugena’s project highlighted 'Babbarra Designs', an Indigenous printing workshop in Maningrida, Northern Territory. The soft furnishing collection comprised a screen-printed table runner, cushion and two tote bags. The designs draw stylistically from Babbarra’s own textile prints, but the source of the collection’s inspiration was Maningrida art and craft – specifically the patterns and textures of basketry.
