In a future where autonomous vehicles form a significant part of our public transport infrastructure, how can our safety be managed by physiological responses to stress and the use of light detection technology?
‘Artemis’ is a proposed design solution that consists of a wearable, multi-sensory and digitally connected device. This project investigates the possibility of combining multi-sensory technology with LIDAR (light detection and ranging) to provide a safety measure for people by generating data from physiological responses. In doing so, the device works as a preventative measure against accidents between pedestrians and vehicles as well as creating a wealth of accurate data that can be used to improve key areas of a transport network. ‘Artemis’ explores the ethical implications regarding the use of autonomous vehicles and addresses a future where live data can be used to efficiently manage the safety of people’s mobility.
