Flâneurisms
'Flâneurisms' is a cross-media project spanning traditional drawing and analogue photography practices that seeks to exhibit ways of seeing. José Marcelino investigates the theatre of the urban space and everyday routine, breaking the photographs down into their component forms and thus subverting norms of representation. The subversion is accomplished through the transformation of the original source material into a stencil, providing the template for a photogram which are representations of light itself. José has drawn on the antithesis to Debord’s dérive, mapping everyday walking paths that are seldom pondered on, yet subconsciously ingrained in one’s daily routine. With this investigation, José intends to highlight the autonomy of routine as a layer woven into everyday built environments.
