'United Grounds' addresses the ever-important issue of the health and wellbeing of elderly residents living in Residential Aged Care Facilities. Jessica Betlazar specifically aims to create a newly designed public space located adjacent to a Residential Aged Care Facility which comprises a complex of independent living units. Located in the context of a friendly neighbourhood suburb consisting of young families, 'United Grounds' provides a space that encourages positive interactions between different generations. Jessica has worked collaboratively with a particular community using an evidence-based design approach to transform an unused site into a multigenerational interactive space. This project aims to create a positive outdoor area for residents living within aged care facilities, as well as provide a space for family visitors to spend quality time with their loved ones and encourage a community hub where neighbourhood residents can unite.
