Reprinting Reality
In a world where our experiences are continually reshaped by technology, how do we define what is real? How have once accepted truths been uprooted by technological change, and how has this change caused a shift in our experience of reality? ‘Rebuilding Reality’ explores how 3D printing technology has contributed to altering the ways in which individuals experience reality. Ellen Simmons explores the cultural shift from traditional manufacturing to digital fabrication processes through her use of speculative design and experimentation with 3D printing techniques. Ellen looks to the ability of 3D printing to transplant the virtual into physical reality, blurring the line between the real and the artificial.
